Timelessly fresh music.

TRUTH BE TOLD:
Quality music goes beyond trends. It's timeless.

When a couple of established radio executives invited us to their facilities to talk about their new vision for a station, there was one word that kept coming up over and over again.

Actually, a couple of words: "timeless" and "quality"

Their new station would be dedicated to greek music that has already stood time or was destined to. They would put all their experience and talent to the noble work of showcasing the best of Greek music -no matter if it was recorded decades ago or just out of the recording studio-and try to make it as accessible to everyone as quality deserves.

Ιt was a productive and fruitful cooperation, a lovely coincidence. In the search for a new radio station’s musical identity, we were met with creativity and inspiration. And I think it managed to succeed a rare harmony of image and context. Antonis Andrikakis, Menta88 program director & radio producer

We were asked to name that station in a way that reflects quality beyond time but doesn't get highbrow.
"Good music doesn't discriminate, it can move anyone, no matter their age, financial status or level of education. After all it appeals to our humanity, that's what makes it good." were the words of Antonis Andrikakis, the station's director, radio producer and one of the country's most celebrated lyricists.

So we got to work.

LET'S SHORT THIS OUT

Of all the different directions that we explored, one immediately caught our attention, mostly due to its diverse nature.

"ΜΕΝΤΑ", greek for mint, is so versatile when it comes to emotional connotations.

From one stand, the homemade mint tea that mother used to brew , all sorts of traditional recipes that instantly bring us back to our home town, even the old school mint liqueur that we used to treat visitors with back in the sixties, make us feel loads of warm nostalgia just in the sound of it.

But, at the same time mint is a worldwide symbol for freshness!

Its aromatic leaves, even years after being picked and dried, preserve the same invigorating sent and sense they had while still raw.

A perfect metaphor for the songs heard on 88FM.
